Well, the big news this week is that I finally finished the draft and first round of edits on book two of the Threads of the Moirae series, tentatively titled Avenging Fate. It has now gone to my beta readers for further input.
It took a lot longer than book one because I’ve had so much else to do to get ready for Broken Fate to launch in a couple of weeks. When I started this journey, I had no idea that writing the books would be the easy part. The marketing and social media is much harder. Or at least more time consuming. All good problems to have, to be sure, I just wasn’t prepared.
- Harry Potter: From Page to Screen. The Complete Filmmaking Journey, by Bob McCabe. This behemoth was a (late) Christmas present to myself. It’s chock full of pictures and drawings from all of the Harry Potter films, plus commentary on how the movies were made. While I’m not a filmmaker, I’m always curious about how movies get made and the creativity that goes into them, especially when the world and story is as elaborate as that of Harry Potter. Now if I only had a forklift to help me cart the book around…
- Firstlife, by Gena Showalter. In the future, your mortal life is just a dress-rehearsal. Your real life begins in the afterlife. In Firstlife, the main character is institutionalized because she won’t let her parents choose where she’ll live after she dies. Two realms are vying for her soul and she has a decision to make: Follow the boy she loves, or choose her own path in the afterlife. It all sounds weird, but I like Showalter’s books for adults so I’m giving it a try.
