With an editing deadline looming for Avenging Fate, plus a bunch of other work, I didn’t have time to get to the library this week. Thankfully, I was able to borrow some good eBooks to tide me over. (Not that my Kindle isn’t full to bursting as it is. Why I couldn’t just read something that’s already on there, I don’t know. I guess it’s just the allure of the new. Either that or I’m a complete book junkie who has no shame in feeding her addiction.)
- Bay of Sighs, by Nora Roberts. This is the second book in her new Guardians trilogy. I enjoyed the first, although not quite as much as some of her earlier trilogies. (The Born In trilogy remains my favorite.) At any rate, the first one was good enough to get to me read this one.
- Murder In Time, by Julie McElwain. This one is the latest title in the Library Big Read series. If you’re not familiar, libraries that use OverDrive to service their eBook collections participate in a global eBook club. One title is chosen and is made continuously available for a month or so (no annoying hold list) and there are discussion groups, etc. dedicated to the book. This one sounds like a promising time travel/thriller.
- Wide Open World, by John Marshall. The author basically got fed up with modern life and the toll it was taking on his family life and togetherness. Lacking the funds for a luxury vacation, he instead packed them up and for six months they traveled the world pursuing volunteer opportunities. This is the story of their journey. I like books like this so even though I don’t have kids, I look forward to the travel narrative.
