There’s not too much news this week, at least not it applies to writing. As far as that goes, I’m still buried under book three of the Threads of the Moirae, plus three other books I work on when I have time.
I did manage to acquire a new camera and am working on taking better pictures for my website and social media. Plus, it should really help with my board game photography for my reviews. I used to have a really nice camera, back in the film days, but I got rid of it when things moved to digital. Point and shoot seemed simpler. Now I’ve finally got a nicer camera and can get busy learning better photo techniques. I’m excited. Everything I read about marketing on social media indicates that pictures are becoming more important, so I look at it as an investment in my career.
Reading List
- The Forgetting, by Sharon Cameron. In a civilization where everyone loses all of their memories and identity every five years, one girl does not. She knows what goes on in this world and wants to find out why. What secrets are being covered up with all this forgetting?
- The Twilight Saga: The Complete Film Archive, by Robert Abele. I found this one at a thrift store and it was the find of the year. This book looks at the making of the Twilight films and has all kinds of souvenirs and props tucked the the pages. It also has lots of information on the creativity needed to bring the books to life. I couldn’t believe that all of the little trinkets were still in the book. The whole thing looks like it wasn’t read at all. (Probably given as a gift to someone who wasn’t a Twilight fan and they dumped it.) Anyway, haunt your local thrift stores. You never know what you might find!
