Library Haul & Reading List 10/14/16

The big news this week is that the Wake County Public Library System in North Carolina has agreed to add Broken Fate to its collection! If you live in the area, you can borrow the book. (As soon as I get them boxed up and sent in, that is.) Even if you don’t live in the area, if your library offers inter-library loan, you may be able to request it. Gotta love libraries!

The Reading List

  • Social Photography, by Daniela Bowker. I mentioned in an earlier post that I was trying to improve my photography skills. Well, happily, I found this book in a thrift store! It’s pretty basic, but it has a lot of examples and ideas for crafting better social media pictures. The tips are mostly geared toward making smartphone pictures look better, but there are also ideas in there for people using DSLR’s.
  • A Shadow Bright and Burning, by Jessica Cluess. This is a YA novel about a girl who can burst into flames. When she’s sent to train with the Queen’s sorcerers, she meets several young men, all with different agendas. Love, betrayal, and challenges abound. As with many magical books, the question asked is: Is she really the prophecy girl who can save her city, or will she fail? The idea of someone bursting into flames is what intrigues me about this one. Otherwise, it sounds like many other YA novels, but I’m willing to give it a chance.
