Library Haul & Reading List 11/04/16

Wouldn’t you know it… The minute NaNoWriMo starts, the floodgates at the library fly open and all of my holds start rolling in. And the books coming in are the ones I was most waiting for, too! Figures. Ah, well. First world problems.

Due to NaNoWriMo, there isn’t much other news this week. I’m just trying to bash out the words, although it’s hard because we’re having a heat wave and all I want to do is go out and play. So far, the pressure of NaNo isn’t lifting the fog that has obscured book three in the Threads of the Moirae series. This book is kicking my butt far harder than did the first two. But I press onward, hopeful that the pressure of NaNao will crack the book wide open. If it doesn’t crack me first.

The Reading List

  • Gemina, by Amie Kaufman & Jay Kristoff. This is the second book in the Illuminae files. The series is a YA, sci-fi, space opera thriller and I was really taken in by the first book. I hope the second one lives up to its predecessor.
  • The Boy is Back, by Meg Cabot. Cabot’s adult books have been hit or miss for me, but I did love The Princess Diaries so I keep checking her books out. This is fluffy-sounding romance about a man who, due to unfortunate circumstances, has to travel home to face his past and the girl he left behind.
  • High Heat, by Richard Castle. This is the latest book in the Nikki Heat series, which is a meta version of the TV show, Castle. I’m curious to see where this series goes now that the show is off the air. I wonder if this will be the last (since I’m sure this was in the pipeline when the show got the boot last spring), or if they’ll continue.
